Definition: steel slab refers to semi-finished products used in the production of steel, generally can't be directly used by the community.
Material: continuous casting steel square billet and rectangular billet are mainly represented by straight carbon steel, low carbon low silicon cold rolling materials, improved carbon structural steel, low alloy high strength steel, special steel, etc.
Use: billet is steel, which can be used as mechanical parts and forgings after processing. All kinds of steel can be processed and structural steel and wire are made with billet.
Steel slab is produced through three kinds of technique
1. Steel slab is casted straight by liquid steel through continuous casting equipment of steelmaking system.
2. Semi-finished steel is manufactured by rolling equipment through ingot or continuous casting billet produced by steelmaking system.
3. Semi-finished products processed by ingot from steelmaking system through the forging equipment.
4. Classification of steel slab
1. Slab
① Specification:150~200×1250×L, 180×1050×L
② The fixed length is mainly 4.5-6m.
③ Commonly used material: general carbon billet and low alloy billet
④ Application: Suitable for rolling medium thick steel plate and hot rolling steel sheet.
2. Square billet
① Specification: 120×120×L, 135×135×L, 150×150×L, 200×200×L, 250×250×L
② The fixed length is mainly 3-12m.
③ Commonly used material: general carbon billet and low alloy billet
④ Application: Suitable for rolling hot strip, construction rebar, ordinary wire steel, highspeed wire rod and various small sections.
3. Rectangular billet
① Specification: 180×220×L, 165×225×L, etc.
The fixed length, commonly used material and application is basically the same as square billet.
